Board Simon Gray Company Secretary Director, Strategy and Corporate Finance Following his admission as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of NSW, Simon practised as a commercial litigator with KPMG Legal and Deacons before joining Shaw as Corporate Counsel in 2004.
Since 2004 Simon has worked closely with the Board to review, assess and manage Shaw’s legal, commercial and operational risks. In 2006 Simon was elevated to General Counsel and Head of Compliance advising on Shaw’s corporate transactions and business opportunities including all new products, projects and processes.
In 2009 the Board developed the role of Director, Strategy and Corporate Finance, working closely with the Managing Director, to formulate and lead transitions in the business. In this role Simon has been tasked, among other responsibilities, with growing Shaw’s institutional and private client Adviser bases as well as managing their interaction with research and corporate finance.
Simon holds a Masters of Corporate and Commercial Laws from the University of New South Wales. He is accredited by the ASX as a Responsible Executive (ACH/ASX) and a Derivatives Adviser Level 2, in addition to being accredited by the SAA as a skills assessor (for RG146 purposes). Separate to Shaw, Simon is a Member of the ASX Disciplinary Tribunal.
Simon serves as Company Secretary to the Board and remains focused on Shaw’s compliance and supervisory commitments as a member of the Company’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee (ARC).
